The test fixture has three quick-load bays catering for the following cartridge types: 15, 45, 23, 25, 41, 78 The graphic LCD display gives a clear indication of the resistor matrix of the cartridge being tested. The tester automatically determines which cartridge is being tested, and if the connections to the printhead are intact will display the cartridge type being tested. Where a matrix connection is broken the display will show the faulty connection as a flashing line on the display. The tester gives an audible beep to indicate successful operation. A quick succession of beeps alerts the operator to a faulty cartridge. In conjunction with the quick load/unload fixture this gives the capability of very fast test/conversion times. The tester also converts the current style of 45A or 45G cartridge into a 15/45 universal cartridge. (The cartridges that can be converted are easily identified by the number 45 in an orange rectangle on the label). Upon pressing the convert button, the unit first checks that a cartridge is functioning electrically, then it changes the identity, before testing the cartridge again and displaying its new identity. The unit will attempt to convert all cartridges but will signal when a cartridge is not of a type that can be converted. A cartridge that cannot be converted will not be harmed by this process. The tester/converter features a real time clock and includes battery backup storage. This enables it to display the following information: • The number of cartridges tested and the pass percentage. • The number of each type tested and the quantity that passed. • The number of cartridges converted • The number of cartridges not recognised due to damage. • The number of units being tested per hour. This statistical information is extremely valuable in assessing the quality of cartridges attained from various sources, and in calculating work/time ratios. The battery-backup will ensure that the information is retained even if the unit is switched off or in the event of a power failure. This can be cleared by an option in the menu whenever required. The tester is powered by a small AC adaptor that can be supplied in UK, European or US pin configuration. The AC adaptor operates from 100-240v AC.
